Waiver – Berlin HEMA Cup 2026
By registering for the Berlin HEMA Cup 2026, the registrant, hereinafter referred to as the tournament participant, confirms that they have read, understood, and agreed to the following terms (points 1–6). This waiver applies to participation in the Berlin HEMA Cup, hereinafter referred to as the Cup, for which the registration has been completed.
1. Voluntary Participation
Participation in the event is voluntary.
2. Acknowledgment of Risks & Liability
The tournament participant acknowledges that the Cup involves martial arts activities, including the use of weapons, which—despite protective equipment—may pose a risk of injury, disability, or death.
By participating, the tournament participant assumes full responsibility for any health risks and consequences resulting from their participation. Neither the participant nor their legal successors shall have any claims against the Cup or its organizers for accidents, injuries, disabilities, or fatalities arising from event activities.
The Cup and its organizers do not accept liability for damage to life, limb, property, or assets caused by participation in the event. This applies to both short-term and long-term damages. Liability for intentional harm is excluded, and liability for gross negligence by the Cup or its members is also waived.
3. Compliance with Instructions
The tournament participant agrees to follow all instructions given by the tournament director, referees, and designated event staff immediately and without objection.
4. Protective Equipment & Safety Responsibility
The tournament participant is responsible for ensuring that they are wearing all required protective equipment for their respective activity and that it is in proper working condition before participating.
5. Free Sparring Outside the Tournament
For any free fencing sessions outside the official tournament, the participant acknowledges that they must discuss the intensity and target areas with their sparring partner beforehand and ensure that both fencers are adequately protected.
6. Media Consent & Image Use
The tournament participant acknowledges that photo, video, and audio recordings will be made during the Berlin HEMA Cup. By registering, they grant permission for their recorded image and likeness to be used for social media, video platforms, and websites, as well as for promotional purposes of the event.
If the participant does not wish to be recorded, they must inform photographers or camera operators directly.
By registering for the Berlin HEMA Cup 2026, the participant agrees to all the terms stated above.
